Good afternoon! Today we are going to sign-up for a free learning tool called "Codecademy." It's a really cool place where you can practice what you have already learned with HTML and where you can continue to learn new things even after this class ends.
Please go to Codecademy, and click the "create an account" button at the top right corner. You will use the same log-in you use for google to sign up (just click the google account option). If you don't have a google account, fill out the email, username, and password form.
Once you get signed up, click on the Web Fundamentals > Introduction to HTML > HTML Basics track. Then start the first exercise (a review).

These lessons are always laid out the same way: There will be instructions on the left, and your codebox on the right. See below:
Your goal is to carefully follow those instructions and complete the task. If you don't do it right, it will tell you when you try and hit that green submit button. As you make your way through the lessons, your progress will be displayed. In addition to that, you will have a pretty cool page located in your menu bar where you can keep track of your points, streaks, and earned badges.
You are finished with Intro to HTML (part 1) when it looks like this:
Part Two
When you finish with the intro to HTML I would like you to download and open a text file I created.
Once that downloads, open it. Your assignment is to take the plain text and, using HTML markup, transform it into a structured .html file that looks like this:

Hint: The first thing you should do to the file is save it as an HTML file and open it with both text edit and safari...
Hint #2: notice how I have my paragraphs with quotes spaced out. In order to move text down to the next line you use <br/>
